Santa's Elf

If you have a small child you have got to get one, "Christopher Pop-In-Kins". This is the cutest thing I have ever seem and it is something that is fun for the whole family. So the store goes:
Christopher is one of Santa's elfs that helps watch over the children. You bring him out after Thanksgiving and read the book to the children.
Santa sprinkles magic dust on Christopher and he moves around the house so he can keep an eye on your children. But of course this really doesn't happen so you have to move the elf up high because if the children touch him he looses his magical powers. So I told Gavin that I went and saw Santa and he gave me Christopher the elf and sprinkled the magic dust on him. He was so excited and I am too!
Hopefully this will help keep our children doing good things at least for one month.
But I got Gavin's at Ana Banana's in Goldsboro, NC. But there is also a website "Christopher Pop-In-Kins"!

Christmas Tree Decorating

Tonight we got home, put the Christmas tree up and started the decorating. But the history of the ornaments goes back to when we first got married. We have made it a point to get a personalized ornament every year from wherever we go on vacation that year. Normally we go to the mountains but this year we went to Myrtle Beach, so our ornament this year is Santa on the beach. Gavin got to help with some of the ornaments, I will have to make sure that our ornaments are shatter proof from now on. Luckily we only broke one and that was my fault.

Riding in the Fire Truck

Gavin got to take his first ride in fire truck and not just any fire truck and not with just anyone. He got a very special ride from the fire chief himself, Lynn Everett and on North Lenoir Tanker 1. He was so excited and couldn't stop saying fire truck the rest of the day. Lynn put him in the drivers seat so he could blow the air horn and make all the loud noises that fire trucks make.

This was one happy little boy, thank you so much Lynn!

Fun Time Finally

Ever since Jeremy got his boat, he has been dying to take it out. But we have either been too busy or just bad weather. Well Sunday was beautiful, 77 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, so after church we packed up and headed to the lake. Gavin was so excited, Jeremy couldn't stop smiling, and I was just praying that we could unload and load the boat safely. Anyone that has a boat or has been on a boat knows what I am talking about. We did really good, we did it safely and no yelling at each other. Once we got on the water, we had an amazing time. Gavin loved to walk around the boat and just watch the water go by. I can't wait until summer comes back around so we can enjoy it more.

Trick or Treating

Gavin is the cutest fisherman I have ever laid my eyes on. I know, it's kind of a random costume but I wanted him to be completely different from everyone. I had to change some things around when the costume came in, because it was very cheaply made. But as you can see the changes turned out great.
He had the best time that entire day. Before we went trick or treating we had some friends invite us over for a hay ride and Gavin loved it, so much that he rode twice. And these were not short rides they lasted about 15 minutes, but he enjoyed every minute and that's all that mattered.

Then it started to get a little dusky which meant it was time. Time to go TRICK OR TREATING or "TREAT" as Gavin said. We were in Kinston this weekend so we went "treating" with Logan, Gavin's cousin. We started off walking to a few houses but with Gavin's pace we would have been out there until midnight. So Aunt Christie and GiGi got the truck and off we went. We were then able to cover a lot of ground, in fact I think we went to about 30 houses. WOW, right!
But Gavin found out real quick that he had to say trick or treat, which he shorted to "treat" and that he needed his bucket. So every time we got to the next house he would ask for his bucket, we would walk up to the house and he would knock on the door, regardless of whether or not they were outside already. And it took him a couple of houses to realize that we didn't go into their house when they opened the door. Too funny! By the end of the night we were all exhausted and it was only 8 o'clock.

My Handy-Man

Gavin has turned into such a little handy man. The knob came off GiGi's end table and Gavin got the screw driver and did his best to put it back on. He's a little independent so he wanted to do it his self but after 30 minutes of trying he finally gave up and asked for help.

Sweet Potato Festival

GiGi and I took Gavin to the Sweet Potato Festival in Snow Hill Saturday morning. It was a little rainy but we made a morning out of it. Gavin loves the blow up slides and jumpee things and it took everything we had to get him away from these things. But we found a booth that had freshly cooked sweet potato fries, man they were so good and Gavin thought so too! We also found some sweet potatoes that had faces painted on them and could not pass up a picture opt.
