Gavin's "BIG BOO-BOO"

For those of you that do not know the story behind last Wednesdays BIG BOO-BOO here it is.
I have a girls night out group that goes out just about every Wednesday night, whether we go out or just to someones house. Well last Wednesday we were making pottery at one of the girls house in her basement. I had Gavin with me because Jeremy was at work. Later on after we had eaten and hung out some, talking and caring on, we decided to get started making our pottery. Gavin was being a typical little boy, into everything, I finally got him to stay still by me and play with the stamps for the pottery. The next thing I know he is crying and I see his hand stuck up a hole in this pottery wheel. The first thing that crossed my mined was his hand is just stuck. I pull his hand out and I just screamed "IT CUT HIS FINGER OFF", and yes there was blood everywhere. I had no idea what to do, one of my friends who is 6 months pregnant with her second child just calmly said get some paper towels, hold it tight, don't let go , and get in my car. So that's what I did, before yelling back to the other girls "FIND HIS FINGER AND BRING IT TO THE HOSPITAL". Have you ever imaged that those words would be coming out of your mouth. Let me answer that for you, NEVER!
My friend gets us safely to the Emergency Room, (I believe that was longest ride ever and its only about 10mins from where we were). The ER was packed and I just ran to the back (like I was actually going to sit in the waiting room until they called us back). There was no rooms available so they had to get someone out of a room, get it clean and then put us in there. Mean while I am just standing there crying and the nurses just looking at me, well I spotted the ER doctor and looked at him and said "I need you and he needs you, please help me". So he literally ran up to me, again while the nurses are still just looking and wraps his arm around me and grabs Gavin's hand and said it's ok I got you and him. This doctor was amazing he had no gloves on and just took Gavin's hand like it was his on son. Now the nurses decide they want to get involved and tell the doctor to get some gloves on, that they will handle it. But he didn't let go until a room was ready. And all I could say to him was "he is healthy and does not have any diseases".
They had a room within a couple of minutes and in we went. They got an x-ray, an IV in his arm, which took several sticks and got his hand wrapped up, and as soon as they wrapped it up he stopped crying. Lets just say there was alot of rules broken that night, doctor with no gloves on, x-rays taken with people in the room(which was not suppose to happen but made sure with everyone in there that no one was pregnant).
Finally Jeremy got there, right before they took Gavin into surgery, this was our main worry because Gavin is allergic to all medicines. He can not take any type of antibiotic, if he does he gets hives and things start to swell, not good. So we didn't know what kind of reaction he would to being put under. Well he was ok but they could not re-attach the part of finger that was cut off. We had to stay in the hospital for 3 days, so they could monitor his hand. We are out and Gavin is acting just like his normal self. We have to visit the doctor once a week and Gavin is out of daycare at least 4 weeks maybe longer.

Gavin is such a strong little boy and so are you, Kelly! I cannot begin to imagine what was going through your mind. Thank goodness for some doctors who have sense and a heart. I know they (and nurses) see lots of crazy things in the ER but still- have a heart! Hugs to Gavin, you, and Jeremy!!!!

Jamie

I am so sorry you guys had to go through that. I can't imagine how horrible it was. I am so glad Gavin is doing good.
